Wiki Loves monuments South Africa: Awarding Gala
Final preparations for the Awarding Gala event of Wiki Love Monuments Finals are under way. Now that submissions for the Wiki Loves Monuments competition has officially come to an end, the judges are utilising their elite judging skills to choose some winning pictures. The judging is divided into two time frames.
The first time frame or round, begun on 11 October and will come to an end on the 21st of October 2012. Judges will rate their favourite 10 pictures from the 1862 photographs submitted. In the second phase, which will run from the 22nd October to the 27th October, the judges will vote on the top 3 photographs in South Africa and the top 3 in the Western Cape from the pictures which they will have selected in this round.
In this first round of the judging they will need to select their favourite 10 photographs and and rate them as follows:
- The three ratings: 'aesthetic value', 'composure', and how effectively they feel the photograph informs the view of the monument (which is to say, gives them a feel for what it is like being at the monument).
- Rate them from 1 to 5; where 1 is bad and 5 is brilliant.
There are very interesting prices in store for winning pictures. The winning picture will be entered in an international competition to stand a chance of further winning!
