Joburgpedia Writing Contest Winners 2015

The Joburgpedia Writing Contest has come to an end and we would like to thank all the schools who participated in the competition!

The winning team is Barnato Park High School with an edit count of 208 and an image count of 16. Well done guys!

Jeppe High School came in second and Senaoane Secondary came in third place.

Wiki Loves Monuments 2015

September is Heritage Month in South Africa and also the start of Wiki Loves Monuments 2015, the photo competition for monuments and heritage sites.

The competition invites members of the public to submit photographs of monuments throughout the month of September. Whether it is a photograph of a building, sites of struggle and memory, graves, monuments or archaeological sites.

All photographs are uploaded through the Wiki Loves Monuments portal on Wikimedia Commons, which you can access on the site during September. All photographs are donated to the Creative Commons with a standard CC BY-SA 3.0 copyright, which means that everyone in the world can use and enjoy the photographs freely.

African Meet-up, WMCON, Berlin 2015

Representatives from South Africa, Tunisia, Algeria and Ghana were present at the Chapter's Conference 2015, held in Berlin this weekend.

At the African meet-up, discussion were held about the way forward for the movement in the African context and how WMZA, as a Chapter can assist usergroups throughout Africa to promote the movement in their respective communities.
